Professor Juliana Ferreira-Strixino
Group Leader
After receiving the Ph.D. in Medical Sciences in 2007 from The Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo/USP (Brazil), she conducted postdoctoral research at São Carlos Institute of Physics – IFSC/USP until 2009. In the same year, she joined Universidade do Vale do Paraiba – UNIVAP (Brazil) as an Associate Professor and Researcher. She has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and three patents in photobiology. In addition, she has experience in Biophysics, emphasizing Radiology and Photobiology, working mainly in Photodynamic Therapy, Cancer, Microbiology, Parasitology, Photosensitizers, and Spectroscopy.

Associate Researcher
Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2016 from the Universidade do Vale do Paraiba – UNIVAP (Brazil). In 2012, she joined the research group of Prof. Ferreira-Strixino as a Ph.D. Student. In 2019 she joined Universidade do Vale do Paraiba – UNIVAP (Brazil) as Assistant Professor. Her current research interests focus on Photodynamic Therapy, Parasitology, particularly Leishmania protozoa.
Isabelle Ferreira
Associate Researcher
Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine in 2012 from the São Paulo State University (UNESP), School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, Botucatu (Brazil). In 2019, she joined the research group of Prof. Ferreira-Strixino as an associate researcher. She is a Full Professor at Universidade Paulista (UNIP) and Assistant Professor at the University of Vale do Paraíba (Univap) as well as Brazilian Academy of Laser and Biophotonics' (ABBL) Veterinary Coordinator. She has experience in Veterinary Medicine, with emphasis on General Pathology and Animal Pathological Anatomy, acting on the following subjects: cytopathology, histopathology, photodynamic therapy, oncology.
